Sensei Marco Camilleri Gioia – a dedicated martial artist whose journey spans more than 30 years of passion, competition and technical refinement.

Marco began training in Shotokan Karate in 1994, earning his 2nd Dan and competing intensively in both kata and kumite. Between 1998 and 2006, he became multiple‑time Belgian Champion within the Vlaamse Karate Federatie (VKF), demonstrating strong technical skill and competitive spirit.

After 2009, Marco broadened his experience with kickboxing, training until 2013 and further sharpening his timing, movement and striking precision.

At the end of 2013, he found his new home in Koryu Karate Jutsu Jissen Ryu at Shaolin Dojo vzw. The deep connection between kata, biomechanics, tuite, kyusho, throws and classical karate principles made an immediate impact. Marco’s dedication and discipline led him to steady progression through every grade.

Since September 2016, he has served as Sensei at Shaolin Dojo, contributing to the technical development of our members and helping shape the next generation of practitioners with clarity, patience and a strong foundation in both traditional and applied techniques.

Today, Marco proudly holds the rank of 5th Dan – Shihan (IKO certified), a recognition of his technical maturity, consistent study and loyalty to our Okinawan lineage.
